Who: You (any teen entering grade 7 through 12)

What: Read (or listen to) 5 books, magazines, or comics. You will be entered into a raffle for a Target gift card!

When: May 21 – July 31

Where: Register at any SJCPL location. For more information, call 282-4614. You can also register on the library’s website at  www.libraryforlife.org.

Paper Football
Wednesday, May 27
2:30p.m.                                                                                                                                                                                                             The history behind this fascinating table-top game might not be well known, but the fun is. Learn how to make a paper football and then play your friends in a game of skill and dexterity.

National Safe Place Week

Safe Place is the first step to help for any youth in crisis or at risk.  This community collaboration program, operated by youth shelters or youth serving agencies make it possible for any youth to access help at locations including fast food restaurants, convenience stores, fire stations, libraries and city buses which display the Safe Place sign. images.jpg Youth can easily find help at Safe Place sites in their own neighborhood whenever they need it.  Safe Place connects youth to immediate help and safety and offers supportive services to both youth and their families.

The local Safe Place sites work in conjunction with Youth Services Bureau.

All of the St. Joseph County Public Library  locations are designated as Safe Place sites.

College Prep Workshop

There will be a College Prep Workshop for 11th and 12th Grade high school girls on Saturday, March 28 at Indiana University South Bend. The workshop will be from 8:30a.m.-1:45p.m. in Wiekamp Hall.

The goal of the workshop is to assist high school girls in making a successful transition to college by offering interactive workshops with “insider” information on college.
