Kids Mock Newbery Club
Join us for SJCPL's Mock Newbery Club. For readers ages 10-14. We'll be reading a variety of books eligible to win the 2014 Newbery Medal. Be ready to read a lot and talk about what makes the writing good--or not. Registration begins Monday, June 3, 2013. Please register online or call 271-5144.

The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

***PLEASE NOTE: You CAN read ahead. So if you've already read some of the books on the October list and want to read from the November or December list, you can.

You are also allowed to read eligible titles on your own & submit recommendations of titles that are NOT on the list, so that something great that Kris might have missed can be discussed by the whole group & considered for our Mock Newbery Medal. AND Kris reserves the right to add a couple of titles if she finds more. : )

10 bonus titles will also be added in the future; 5 in October and 5 in November, equaling 21 titles for the club.
