This is the first week of the Summer Reading Challenge, so sign up today and get busy reading so you can reach your reading goals and collect some cool prizes too. What? You are only 2 and don’t know how to read? (then how are you reading this blog post, may I ask?) That’s o.k. If your parent or caregiver reads to you, then that counts too! What? You only like Captain Underpants and Scooby-Doo books? Great! We love Captain Underpants and Scooby-Doo too! The great thing about the Summer Reading Challenge is that the choice of what you read is up to you. No librarians are going to give you evil looks if you check out The Day My Butt Went Psycho (yes, this is a real book) instead of Hamlet. Just try read at your own reading level. What? You broke both of your hands in a skateboarding accident and you are unable to hold a book? No problem! You can listen to an audiobook and those count towards your summer reading goal. What? You are grounded for the next month for teepeeing the neighbors house and can’t come to the library to check out books? No problem! We have a wide selection of e-books that you can use on your iPad, Nook, or other device that you can download from home. So, as you can see there is just no excuse for not signing up for the Summer Reading Challenge!
SJCPL has a program for kids, adults, and teens. It is super easy to sign-up and totally free. Click here to get started today!
