I have been reading comics lately, and every time I pick one up, I look longingly at the art and story and wish I could create one. I often sit and think about the story I would write or what kind of illustration style I would use. Maybe I could write about superheroes saving the day, or create a simple story about what it is like to work in a super-awesome library like SJCPL.
But then I found out that William Tourtillotte is going to be at this year’s Open Book Festival and thought, “This is my chance!”
William Tourtillotte is an amazing local artist, curator, and educator, and he is coming to the library to guide attendees of the Festival in experiencing, creating, and illustrating an artistic work of their own.
Like me, have you ever wanted to create something but did not know where to start? Have you read a graphic novel and thought, “I wish I could do that?” Are you interested in seeing William Tourtillotte’s awesome art? Or are you going to be hanging out at the library on Saturday, September 15?
If any of the above questions describe you, it’s vital you attend William Tourtillotte’s workshop. His session is from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the lower level’s Humphreys Multimedia Room. You may want to show up a little early, because it will fill up fast! Hope to see you there!
