Jennifer Holm, winner of 3 Newbery Medal Honors, is coming to South Bend! Jenni will talk to children, young people and families about her life as a writer and the ideas that lead to her characters and books. Jenni’s most recent novel, Eighth Grade Is Making Me Sick: Ginny Davis’s Year in Stuff, was recently reviewed on Amazon, where she was called “one of the nicest kids’ authors [I’ve] had occasion to meet.” Jenni writes the popular graphic novel series Babymouse and Squish with her brother Matthew Holm, and Jenni’s Newbery Honor winning novels include Our Only May Amelia, Penny from Heaven and Turtle in Paradise. Jenni writes for children and young people ages 5-15.
Jennifer Holm’s writing and characters make me laugh one moment and feel sympathy the next. Jenni’s strong, quirky, believable characters (May Amelia, Turtle, Penny, Ginny, Boston Jane) stay with the reader long after her books are read.
