One of our favorite patrons greeted us today and shared with us that she has had her SJCPL library card nearly 70 years. “I got this card when I was 6 or 8 years old,” Ms. DeBoe said, “and I’ve been using it ever since.” We had to take a picture of the card and the proud cardholder.
Ms DeBoe is a voracious reader of adventure stories, mysteries, and romances. She highly recommends Catherine Coulter’s FBI series (she’s read them all and is eagerly awaiting the newest book, due out in July). She also recently enjoyed Heaven Is for Real by Todd Burpo. That book was so interesting that she started it a 8 a.m. and finished it by noon.
Visiting with Ms. DeBoe made us wonder if any other patrons have library cards nearly as old as Ms. DeBoe’s card. Ms. DeBoe is an inspiration and an example of our patrons making us their “Library for Life.”
